Congrats and Happy birthday SY (you the 5th or 6th? I am the 6th - seems a lot of December people. My seventh decade in 2 years time . . . . . 🙂
Mine is Sunday, Pearl Harbor Day (the start of WWII for the US).
Mine as well. We celebrate it by getting bombed.
Scott brought some white truffles last night and we made excellent use of them. Despite an array of pretty fine wines and two superb Scotches (courtesy of Jan and my cooking partner JD), we're actually feeling OK today.
"Big" party is tonight, with a live concert in the living room from one of the great local singer/songwriters. Then complete lassitude tomorrow, football on TV.
December 7: Happy Birthday to my Father (1927), SY (1954), Speedskater (1941?) and anyone else born this day.
Hope last night's concert was a blast.
I don't think Speedskater is that old but he did say he was born on PH day. ;-)

Wow, that sounds like quite the blowout! Happy Birthday!
Yes it was 1941, about 25 minutes before the first shells hit Pearl Harbor. That makes me one of the very last US pre-war babies. We celebrated it (my birthday) Saturday at the speedskating race. None of the young guys that I race against made it easy on me.
It turns out the the US sunk a mini-submarine hours before the attack. The US Navy knew that they shot at something in the harbor, 70 years later the found the sub remains at the bottom, outside the harbor.
It was a Sunday afternoon in Cleveland. Most of the older people that I talk to, remember that day as kids at the movie theater. My mother remember that everyone in the hospital was talking about 'Pearl Harbor' but no one told her what 'Pearl Harbor' was.

At O'hare waiting for my flight back to what will be a strike-stricken (?) Brussels. This was one of those rare perfect weekends. Great friends, great discussions, great food, great Scotch & wine, great live music!
They don't come better than this, worth the effort to fly over many times.
Thanks Stuart and Cynthia!

For me Dec 7 is "D" day.......December 7 1981, the day I divorced the first wife! Better than a birthday.....Happy Birthday all!

I've noticed our birthday boy is suspiciously absent.

hehe.

I have not opened my computer much for the past couple days...
I can't express how grateful I am to Jan Didden, who actually flew over from Holland to spend the weekend with us (bearing some amazing Scotch), and Scott Wurcer, who completed our Axis of Evil and brought white truffles! My cooking partner of 20 years flew in from Idaho and we did our best to demonstrate the inherent unhealthiness possible in all-vegetarian meals.
My wife set up a house concert with a terrific singer/songwriter and, yes, you can't get that sound from a hifi.

Happy Bday . FDR said it best. " A day that will live in infamy" Glad to see you are keep up the date.
My Father was confused and a bit dismayed at the fact his parents weren't paying the usual amount of attention to him on his birthday. Even at 14 he soon realized the enormity of the event. It was a Sunday afternoon i
