Hi SWMBO, pleased to meet you. Until now I had assumed you were merely an excuse 😉 So...has Moondog told you about his plans for bass horns hanging off the roof in the back yard for barbies? 🙄

*sticks out hand in greeting*

Hi Allen. Yes, I'm real, not just a figment of Moondog's imagination.

And no, I had not heard about the bass horns in the back yard. Before he hangs any horns, he's got to clean up the back yard first so we can HAVE barbies!

This is how the centre speaker was placed with a wide grille attached.

With some smarts, you can incorporate centre speakers in the LR fronts. In the end it's only HT so not as critical as stereo music IMO.

I hope you find a solution to please all Ted.

tilting the front of the center speaker slight up pointing to head height level will decrease the felling that the sound is coming from under the tv .

Tell Ted to get out in the back yard as it's healthier than playing with speakers. 😉

I spend more time in the back yard now than listening to or building speakers and feel much better for it. Health issues forced me to find a better balance in activities.

BTW, it's good to see a partner supportive of this hobby and I'm lucky to be in the same boat.

Truth is, he hasn't actually built any for ages, and is simply trying to appease my WAF in the living room.

Today he was outside shifting dirt into a new garden bed in readyness for the spuds, and yesterday planted the sweet corn. I know he'll whinge tomorrow about a sore back, but he loves his dirt 🙂

I thought I'd better bring everybody up to date on this one.
We changed the TV stand to something lower and I nailed a length of structural plywood to the studs ( over the plaster) and used a speaker bracket screwed to the ply I just had to strip the vinyl wrap from the speaker and glue on something for the bracket to grab to.
Picture will follow.
BTW this years corn crop is excellent and the pumpkins will be too, spuds are dieing in the heat as are the tomatoes
