I built one of these years ago and have always kept it the gain switch at 26 dB.
That's the highest setting. The gain options are 12, 20 and 26 dB.
The other day I tried the the 20 dB position a I was getting loud thumping noises coming through the speakers with no record playing just the Pre amp un-muted. Even with the volume below normal listening levels I was getting this.
Also, this happens only at the 20 dB pos. not 12 or 26.
Any ideas what could wrong?
