H-bridge IC for digital class D

Hi,

I have a model of a closed loop digital class D amplifier system for driving an 8 ohm speaker load. I want to test the system. I am planning to use FPGA for the digital portion (includes the digital filters, PWM generator etc.) and discrete components for the other analog blocks( the H-bridge and its driver) and the ADC.

I need help in finding an H-bridge and it's driver. I surfed the internet for it, but following mentioned are a few doubts.

(1) Is there any difference between H-bridge for motor control or audio application?

(2) I found a lot of H-bridge drver ICs for audio, but not any H-bridge in particular for audio application.

There is a related thread. However, mostly the members have replied on using the H-bridge driver, not about the H-bridge.

I need to drive 4W into an 8 ohm load. Please suggest how can I implement the class D output stage (the H-bridge driver+ the H-bridge)

Thank you.

Hi ledsscp7,

Thank you for replying.

My intended output power requirement is 4 W into an 8 ohm load. TAS5132 can deliver 25 W max Pout. This is the least Pout, I could find from an H-bridge IC. Are there any H-bridge IC available within 4 W range?

Thanks and regards,

Yes. I can use lower supply to get lower output power.
But from the efficiency vs output power plots, efficiency is only 85% for output power of 4W in TAS5132. So, I feel that if the H-bridge is designed for a lower Pout, max , the power efficiency for my requirement would be better. Please correct me if I am wrong. And let me know if any low power H-bridge IC is available.

Thanks and regards,
asenapati
