Hey all, I'm Dave, new here and could use a little help 🙂
Long story short I'm making a guitar amp for a college project, it's going to be powering a 4x12 cab of varying arrangements. I'm buying the boards and building the box, my course is mechanical so the electrical side isn't so important.
The specs I've given myself are something like this:
- It's going to be switchable between stereo and mono input, and stereo and mono output. This is because my pedal board is capable of stereo output.
- It's not going to include any of the usual tone controls for bass, mids and treble. This is because the board holds all the settings I need. The output just needs to closely mirror that of the input; minimal distortion.
- The cab will be using these beastly speakers:
Classic - G12K-100 - Celestion - Guitar, Bass & Pro Audio Speakers
Figuring out the wiring isn't my difficulty, it's understanding which parts are compatible with others. In my haste to start I went on ebay and ordered a pair of MOSFET boards like so: Class AB MOSFET L7 Audio power amplifier boards assembled 2-CHANNEL 300-350W X2 | eBay
In hindsight that was a little premature as I can't seem to find a suitable power supply for them, and realise I should probably have bought a set of power supply boards and amp boards together....
I've also since realised another potential problem; guitar equipment works at really low V and A, I have no idea if these boards would produce the required volume or if they would need a preamp....?
Can anyone help out a newbie and suggest a course of action and / or suitable places to search for parts.
Chaars all, Dave 🙂

For the power guitar amplifier to sound "right" it does need to have high output impedance - about 4 ohms, otherwise this poweramplifier will sound dead, lifeless with electric guitar.
You can raise output impedance of amplifier with mixed-mode feedback or with big power resistor.

Manufacturer may use different (from the picture) but same grade components due to different bulk. Please consider if you can accept it before buy.
Makes me a trifle cautious.

Alrthough this ^^^^^ is right, first you need a Guitar preamp to drive those power amps.
And doubt it will be easy to modify those ready built power amps into mixed feedback mode, so I'd leave that aside for a while.
That said, that amp is a scam.
With just 2 output transistors, it may do:
Definitely NOT:

Lack of knowledge on the subject, and eagerness.
In this case, where do I start? :/
