Hi all,
I'm putting together a little el84 push pull guitar amp and had a question. If I use a 7600 z primary output transformer will it cause me any trouble?
I know the normal load for a pp pair of el84's in 8 k. Will 400 ohms really cause that much of a difference in a guitar amp?
Thanks,
Nick

I doubt that you would notice it in ANY amp. Most speakers vary over at least a 2:1 range across the audio band.
One of my favorite tricks in my guitar amps is th use one of those multi tapped Hammond "universal" OPT's and route every tap to a switch. Each tap changes the load by a factor of two, and even that doesn't change the sound much unless the amp is cranked into clipping.
