One do now play. Not really satisfied with how it came together - one magnet is not perfectly aligned for instance. The ribbons where to wide so I went at it with the scissors - now I just wanted it to play really.

What is mostly needed is a assembly jig that makes it possible to replicate high precision builds.

Now for some measurements 🙂

First trials have been really interesting and I can hear superb potential but there is distortion. The last ribbon was made thicker in the middle to compensate for the non constant field in the gap.

The .asc file (rename to .mp4) is a short clip of how the ribbon behaves when DC current was steadily increased, as it happened in real time. It clearly "worms" itself towards xmax and will surely cause distorsion. Now come the fun part in understanding why and mitigate it. I have a few clues.

Measurement of this riven is also attached. This was taken 20 cm and only at 80 dB.
