I realy liked the Gryphon equipment rack calld Simphony when I saw it first. But it cost about 1400$. This is simple clone or mutant better said made at aprox. 150$. Basic design of the suport leg is taken from Simphony, but this is three legs stand, with no screw conection betven shelwes. Supricely stabile, strong (tested on 50kg), and (it`s a mater of taste ofcourse) nice looking. Relative unexpensive. Maybe a good idea. Legs are Al shelwes - reiforced 8mm glass (it can be stone, wood, acryl.......). A few pictures.
BTW - it is not realy a DIY project, it can not be done at home unless you have the right tools, but it is a good example of corelation betven real material cost`s and selling price for some product`s.

I`m out of time lately (work, work, work). But actualy fcel, i tried to cure my self of disise caled "sound analising" lately, and I rediscoverd the joy of listening my LP&CD colection of music. I found out that I`m satisfate with my sistem and that become as a grate relife. Stands are just a consecvence of the mess I had in my listening room - I needed a stand, and this pictures I send are ment just as an usefull idea for someone who need that kind of stuf and find it interesting.

But is it solid enough, what is it weight ( the real one is really heavy)
how did you cut out she glass?
Have you made the spikes yourself?, if yes how? or no, where did you buy them?

As I said it is not realy a DIY project. I couldn`t made them at home. I ordered the glass and legs from the workshops dealing with that stuf.
Otherwise, dimensions are: reinforced glass platform 500x600mm 8mm thick, legs are 18cm tall Al conus from 30 to 0mm (spike), total weight is cca. 25kg while the Gryphon has cca. 45kg using stainless steel legs, four of them, and 10mm glass. Material costs for original clone would be around 300$.
It may look the oposite (construction is a little exotic) , but stability is amazing.

An interesting idea...I see a few points that can make for an improvement already....
Just imagine some silicone rubber damping rings slipped around the conical pillars at strategic places, for instance...
Oh,come to think of it...did that valve headamp I sent the building instructions for materialise?

Yes, that was an intention, silicon or teflon rings on the two contact places betven metal and glas on every shelwe. There is allso an idea to use a sendwich platform (acryl-al-acryl), or idea for exotic looking platform made in sendvich form: top plate-4mm black acryl, midle plate-3mm transparent acryl, botom plate- 4mm black acryl again - polished sides. Then you could dril a center hole from the botom side of platform, reaching the midle-transparent layer of the platform (not throught black top layer) and insert a litle buton batery powered light with a micro switch. Imagine that in a half dark room. Three rings of light and components floating on it. Haha, a kind of diy SFiction.
Stend is very fleksibile, you can made an extra shelwe any time you want, you can prolong the legs with aditional pice of Al,you can use any kind of material for platforms........

You should be able to knock something up similar to this in school metalwork... Well, the legs anyway, sorta.. lol... But I am not doing metalwork.. lol 😀
