Has anyone used these GRS drivers in an H-Frame or sealed box?
GRS 15PF-8 15" Paper Cone Foam Surround Woofer
They have the qts to use for open baffle. New to this and am trying to find a suitable enclosure. Would an H-frame with a baffle size of 18" work?
Thanks for the input.

They have the Qts for the job.
What they don't have is the linear excursion for the job.
You might be better off going with something like this which has over three times the linear excursion, and using DSP/EQ to pull up the low end. Something like the iNuke 3000DSP should be perfect for the job.

Thanks for the tip on the JBL. I have an Inuke 3000dsp so I can make crossover and PEQ adjustments. That's why I was thinking about sealed boxes as they would not demand as much out of the driver. I know I'm not going to get low sub bass out of the GRS. Just hoping to fill in the bottom end. This is for a small TV room that is only about 12' by 12'. I was going to use these either H frame or sealed as stands for my BFM SLA speakers.
This describes a driver from the same manufacturer that a well respected designer has successfully used in an H- Frame:

The JBL driver is around the same price and with a 14.4mm excursion rating (and being a car audio woofer, it also will have better control when Xmax is exceeded) will likely run rings around that GW driver.
I know this is an old thread but for those who find it thru search engines, an inexpensive speaker designed just for this exact purpose is the

Currently out of stock, unfortunately. But yes, they should be a great match for a dipole subwoofer build. They don't look anything like the original Carver drivers, but the specs suggest similar performance.
