For those who would prefer to opt for the CineMag CMMI-15/15B over the more expensive Jensen JT-11P-1, the $38.26 price I gave in the Jensen thread is for 11-49 pieces. Since I could use another one, I'll buy the odd man out which means just 10 pieces for the group buy.

I'd rather do two of these since they're cheaper 😉
BTW, is it necessary to add an op-amp gain stage onto the output side of the transformer? I've seen that in both the Cinemag and Jensen datasheets...is it just to lower the impedance?

No no. Read my lips. That's "less expensive." 🙂

No, there's no need for an opamp gain stage on the output. But it's going to have to be feeding some sort of high impedance input. How are you planning on using these?

I meant it in a monetary sense only 😉

I was going to use them at the front end of my upcoming leach amp to allow for balanced input. I think pooge posted about some circuit modifications that would need to be made, but I can't remember where that post was...

Well yeah, but "less expensive" is a monetary sense only too. 🙂

Ah, ok.
By the way, unless you already have a balanced output you want to feed it, keep in mind that with a good input transformer, common-mode noise rejection is very high whether you're feeding it from a balanced source or an unbalanced source.
In any case, you would just use the transformer directly with the amp's input without any intervening opamp circuit.

Can't help ya there, sorry. 🙁

Howdy, Bas!
Will do.
Ok, we just need two more to get over the 11 piece hump.

By the way, is everybody ok with the 3/8" bushing mount version? That's the most rugged and versatile version in my opinion. But if somebody wants a different version, I'll ask David if I can mix types on the order.
Here's the datasheet showing the various options: CMLI-15/15B

Bas Horneman said:By the way ...Are these with single or double shielding/screen?
Single can. Same as the 11P-1.

Easiest to mount ...so that would be my choice as well.By the way, is everybody ok with the 3/8" bushing mount version?
Hi Steve,
I'm in for two trannies as well.
(moving over from the Jensen group buy)
Thank you for this good suggestion!

Welcome aboard!
Well that gets us over the hump.
I'll go ahead and keep this going for the remainder of the week and the weekend and then start making arrangements next week.

SY said:Bushing is cool by me. Can we get racing stripes?
Why sure! Hell, I'll get you an 8-ball shift knob and a hood scoop too! Oh, and a "Jensens: Breakfast of CineMags" t-shirt. 🙂

Hi,
what price if you can get to 50 units?
Can you estimate postage to UK?
I might go for 6 pieces to help you get there.
Can you spoonfeed me with what is required at the output stage and the input stage at either end of this transformer?

Please Steve (or anyone else) correct me if I'm wrong.
Input side...something with 600ohm impedance...
output side something 15k+ impedance
By the way..I'll have 2 more..
