Don't mean to be a pest or anything Brian, but do you have an ETA on more premium kits? I guess while I'm at it, could I 'reserve' two of them? 🙂

I am hoping to be able to ship them out around the middle of this month. It all depends on obtaining the resistors.

I won't take any orders until I have the components, but once the components arrive, I will have enough for all the orders.

Hi all from a newbie!

Would be interested too, also in the resistors and, why not, the chips themselves.
Any idea about zhe price?

Regards

Doubletriode

I am still selling pcb, and basic kits. You can find the pricing and ordering information on my website here:

http://www.BrianGT.com/order/

As for all the others participating in the group order: All current orders remaining have been packed up this weekend, and will be shipped out tomorrow morning.

I am still accepting orders, and processing them as soon as possible, as I have all the parts on hand necessary.

To all who recently submitted orders, all remaining orders have been shipped out earlier today.

If you submitted an order more than 2 weeks ago, and haven't received it, drop me an e-mail, and I will check my records. All recent US orders will have USPS Delivery confirmation numbers, which I had e-mailed out when I purchased the postage.

I am still accepting orders for basic kits and pcb sets. I am hoping to be able to offer the premium kits again soon, but it seems like the lead times on the resistors are insanely long, at least another week.

If you want to order boards or basic kits, see my webpage:

I will continue shipping orders out. The current turn-around time is a day or two.

Brian is there a big differance audibly with the basic and premium kits?

It really depends on your setup. If I am not sitting down and focusing on listening to music, and am just using the amp for movies, or background music, I can't tell a difference. By sitting down and critically listening, I can tell a difference. This doesn't mean that basic kit sounds like crap, but the premium components boost the quality of the amp. If I had my old speakers, I doubt that I could tell any difference. (old JBL speakers from Best Buy, compared to my Seas Thor TL speakers)

Don't just take my word for it, hopefully others can give their input. The basic components were chosen to most closely match the premium components for a fraction of the price.

I wouldn't be really that much concerned with quality of parts. If this your first amp project, or something that doesn't require highest performance, a basic kit is a perfect starting point. The passive parts don't cost much and this allows you to go on with a project, even if you are on a tight budget.

I've seen comments from quite a number of people who built the amp with regular components and they still claim that this is the best sound they ever experienced. Even 47Labs GainCard doesn't seem to use any exotic parts, just basic carbon resistors and what appears, regular caps.

If you built the amp with a basic kit, and it happens that you really like it, and eventually want to push performance envelope even further, there is no problem with upgrading some parts, and then you will know if it was worth it😉

The audible difference depends on many factors and in some cases may be bigger than in others (or smaller). Yo will like the amp as it is, untill you try a better component and get used to its sound. After that coming back to listening with the older component is not that easy.

Basic Vrs. Premium

Well the money really isnt a big deal. its only 30 dollers differance or so. My main amp right now is a Decware zen C that I've have for a few months now. i really like it. But there are definalty times when 1.8 watts just doesnt cut it. 20 sounds much better to me. and i hear this amp is "tube sounding" which i really like so far. I just ordered a pair of Parker audio 98's which is a 98 db 1 watt mtm tower. but its a 2 ohm load. perfect for the zen. but i dont think that will work too well with the GC. but my current speakers should work fairly well. mainly just want something to build. but If im going to do it i want to do it as good as i can. especially if its only 30 dollars more. I really just wanted to know if its worth the wait. although i hear its almost time for the premium kits to be ready. YEA!!!! 😀

Brian,
Any word on the bridged or parallel version using these PCB's? I assume a large portion of your time has been spent on the new 4780 PCB you have been working on (which I can't wait to order) so I understand 😀 . I'd like to do the 3875 in a higher power version GC (bridged or parallel) for my 2 ch. stereo rig & save the 4780 for a multi ch. HT type design. IIRC Peter commented on the better S.Q. of the 3875 over the 4780.
