I put my name on the wiki and sent an email. Hopefully there are still some left.
I would appreciate a part number for the pins. I did a search on Digikey for pins and then laughed at my foolishness.
Thanks
Jim

Has anyone got any recomendations for SIL headers to use with the adaptor PCBS?I would appreciate a part number for the pins. I did a search on Digikey for pins and then laughed at my foolishness.
Suggestions suitable for users on both sides of the Atlantic & beyond would be appreciated.🙂

I too would like suggestions for the SIL header.

Elfa call it "plug adapter" but right now I can't find it at Farnell.

Received, thanks - it's a work of art. I already had some LME49722s and Black Gate PKs just waiting for a board like this to come along...
Rapid sell a variety of 0.1inch pitch pins, both straight and right angle.
The versions I bought can fairly easily be slid out from the plastic spacer strip.
I slacken them first. Then slide the spacer to it's temporary location. Solder the pins in with the required projection. Finally removing the plastic spacer, leaving bare pins on both sides.

re "header"...
While it's not as elegant as the part that peranders specifies in post #67, Mill-Max makes a part that should do the job... Mouser has it...350-10-164-00-006000 Mill-Max Headers & Wire Housings
sorry about the 'ugly' link... i don't know how to 'shorten' it.

I've used these gold-plated SIPs for adapters:
Digi-Key - ED7264-ND (Manufacturer - 800-10-064-10-001000)
I cut the strip to length, plug the pins into an old socket or breadboard I use only for mechanical alignments such as this, put the adapter board on top of the short ends, then solder.

Got mine in Georgia, USA, and updated the wiki with received date. Looks every bit as good as in the pics. Thanks.
I noticed sandbasser's Mouser link and my Digikey link both to go Mil-Max parts, though of differing pin diameters. His are 0.018" (0.4572mm) diameter:
http://www.mill-max.com/images/products/pdf/073N.PDF
whereas mine are 0.030" (0.762mm) (long end) and 0.024" (0.6096mm) (short end) diameter:
http://www.mill-max.com/images/products/pdf/081N.PDF
I just checked, both of the larger pin sizes fit into the holes of this board. Looks like the 0.030 pin just barely fits the cap holes in the corners, and fits the connection holes with a little slop. I presume these are 0.030 and 0.035 holes respectively. I've used these pins (the 0.030 ends, with the 0.024 ends soldered into adapter boards) successfully into machine-pin sockets.
Does anyone have an opinion as to which is the more appropriate or "better" pin size of the two products above, 0.030 or 0.018?

There's a 40-pin snapable strip with blue plastic and machined round gold-plated pins that's less expensive - 40 pins should cost about ~$3 each, probably less in volume. The only catch is that the plastic does not snap cleanly when cut with cutting pliers - the pin(s) on either side of the cut becomes exposed some of the time. Breaking it by hand is not clean either; it sometimes snaps a pin away from the intended snap point.
An even less expensive alternative is to use a socket strip (or 8-pin DIP socket) with round pins, insert leads into the socket pin-holes, put a drop of solder to attach the leads to the inside of each pin-hole, trim the leads to a few mm above the socket, and insert and solder the leads to the adapter PCB. The one I've tried has tin-plated pins, which is fine for me - but gold-plated ones are probably also available. You may also want to ensure that the lead wires are non-magnetic if you're using cutting scrap from components, especially resistors.

benb is quite correct!!! The pins on the Mill-Max part I listed in Post #70 (from Mouser) above are too small. The Digi-Key part looks to be a better fit.
Is there any chance ?
It seems its too late, but anyway...
Peranders: Do you have any boards left?
Or... Could anyone got too much adapters and can sell me some? 🙄
I need only 8 adapters. dual-SO to dual_DIP.
Sorry to get late ...
😱
Euclides.
