Group Buy: Peerless by Tympahny DFM-2535R00-08

Update notice:

We are expecting to receive the dispatch notice around December 25. The drivers will then transfer to maritime transport to Germany and are expected to arrive by the end of January or the beginning of February.
Hey @Naturlyd, this was the message I received mid December. End of December was about the production time of 90 days after order confirmation, so maybe it took them a few extra days. I was hoping to receive a message but am super busy these days preparing a months long stay abroad, so didn't check back. In any case, I will write an e-mail and ask if the drivers went to maritime transport yet and let you know.
Best regards

Attention UK group buy participants.

Further to Nico's recent email, should we nominate an address in the UK to get them all sent to. Will take some strain from Nico.

Obviously the initial recipient will be liable for the import tax bill. So I suggest that the goods are then only released to their final address once the internal UK shipping and taxes are paid.

Anyone willing or shall I accept this challenge?!

Similar question for US buyers - is it advantageous to ship to a single buyer and redistribute, or should we have it shipped separately to each buyer?
I'm unfamiliar with how these will be treated for tax purposes - will country of origin be Germany? or China?
I think we will still get an exemption for German import upto 800$, in which case we should ship separately.

Anyone with better knowledge, please chime in.

Not me 🙁

Assuming the commodity code for the drivers is 85189000 (Nico will know the correct code) then there's no import duty payable into the UK from Germany, just VAT @ 20%. However, a group delivery will entail the goods being shipped twice, once by Nico and again by whoever takes on the onward shipment. Assuming £9 for UK shipping and an exchange rate of £1 = €0.83, a fag packet calculation gives £90/pair delivered incl VAT to forum members as part of a group shipment vs £96/pair shipped direct from Nico. Additionally, the person coordinating will have to seek the VAT and UK delivery separately from members which would be a complete PIA. Whereas individual forum members would pay the VAT direct to the courier before delivery. Please do check my figures but I'll be requesting a direct shipment.

PS Presumably the distributor has priced to make a profit so I'm not sure why he's looking to unload the work onto us. Except, of course that that he'd be liable for loss in transit but as he does this for a living he must know what his costs are.
