im playing with the idea for a long time to create my own magneplaner bass drivers to mate with my ESL.
as most people know magnepan uses rubber magnet strips for there drivers, and i would like to buy a few hundred meters of the stuff. ofcourse they cant sell in small quantity.
this is the magnet i want to buy in the picture and it wil fit in between rows of perforated metal sheet.
so you can create the same strusture like seen in the magnepan picture.
i chose slightly thicker magnet to increase magnet strenght and 5 mm width instead of 6 so it fits between the rows of the perforated sheet. this will make up for a nice push pull magneplanar.
well question is would there be any interest in buying this stuff on the forum ?
smallest amount hey want to sell me is 1000 meters, and its around 0,3 US dollar a meter. because its not a standard dimension they make a new mould for it wich is 90 USD so in total it would cost 390USD without shiping.. wich is going to be expensive because it weighs allot! i will ask what it would cost.

well major interest here...... might have to buy 1000 meters on my own :0.
got new suplier wich can make me some sample rolls of 4 times 50 meter. stil will cost me some dollars but we will see 🙂

Where do find suppliers of the magnets?
If you increase the magnetic force, you will need to increase the distance diaphragm-magnets or use very thin wires. If not, there is a risk you kill the bass resonance that is a must for a dipole like Magnaplanar type of driver.
