Maybe market issues matter too? Why did Toshiba quit these models and why does LT find it worth taking up production? Is there a sufficient market demand, and if so, is it sufficient also for the P types?

I posted 1000 price breaks for the LSK170 TO-92 on the wiki. Looks like the sweet spot of getting "free" devices is around 630.... so, looks like I'll have some freebies to toss around.

At this point, I'm planning to close this group buy on:

Thursday, July 24th at 12:00 noon CST

and will begin to send out invoices. I am inquiring about lead times and packaging format today and will have more information on that later.
