In the tail, use a good CCS and as big a negative supply as you need. Just increase your heat sink appropriately. With a 10M45S in the tail, hundreds of volts negative are possible.
Use either a negative supply for the tail, with resistor or CCS, or a choke to ground. Because the cathode impedance is low, the choke can be quite small inductance.
