This cube storage unit had gone a bit wonky in the shed. The others weren't that much better. Used two bits of melamine from the offcutts score to bolster up the sides and increase height, and masked the cut edges with wood batten trim. The wavy top should level out under load. Need to visit the reuse centre to find a top for it
Two more units to form the work counter. Same deal, new sides and wood trim and a top going on. Two of these stacked will make for some good deep storage

Work counter clad, trimmed and topped. The blemishes on the melamine and wood are of no concern, will get covered over when the laminate rolls arrive. I am going a glossy granite top finish and wood grain sides on the melamine. The joys of using offcuts and reuse centre items. Got the narrower top now too
Slow progress due to not being able to shake the fever and chills. But this work area is now done as much as can be and waiting for new laminates to arrive from Ali. I am quite amazed at how much gear this storage has absorbed. All my tools, fishing terminals and equipment, electronics parts stocks, test gear and RC and model craft stuff
All the music creation gear for the studio desk area on the opposing corner. It's going to take some creative work to accommodate the three mixers, synth, and three midi controllers neatly

Hey Crocobar, hope all is well. Yes three mixers man. The Roland MX-1 is the 18 channel main mixer, but it's line and digital only. It doesn't have built in preamps for mics or instruments. It's more for building an ecosystem around the Roland Aira and DJ line of products, as four Roland units can be connected digitally with the four proprietary Aira Link USB inputs. Many of these Aira and DJ gear have their own built-in mic preamps and dedicated mic and vocal effects
As an example, the Roland JD Xi synth in the pic. This has a switchable mic/guitar input and will connect to the MX-1 via the Aira Link USB connector 1. This input has a vocoder and vocal effects like autotune, reverb, harmony and chorus amongst others. It also has a unique feature exclusive to the Roland JD Xi. This is called autonote and is an extension of the vocoder function. The JD Xi has four independent parts inside. Using the mic/instrument input uses up the analog synth part and one digital synth part, leaving a second digital synth part and the built-in drum machine. What I will be doing is running a line from the bass guitar to this instrument input and using the autonote feature to play that digital synth part along with the bass and using a foot control to control that layering. So this becomes the bass guitar input to the MX-1 mixer as well
The MX-1 is a mixer that is also a performance instrument, as it features another exclusive feature that is a sequencer for the built-in multi effects. The effects are applied to the sequencer steps and when a sound crosses that step, the effects are applied. Being a digital mixer, multi effects on independent channels are easy. Most importantly, the MX-1 has a mastering section on its outputs that lets you set a whole range of mastering effects including compressors and such and full adjustability. This will output to the monitors over the analog output and recording via the USB interface to the PC
The Roland DJ-202 is a specialist DJ mixer and also very handy built-in features for remixing. I will be using this mostly for the remixing features as well as its mic input for my personal vocal mic. It has a full set of Roland vocal effects for mic built in and will take up another stereo channel on the MX-1. I am looking to get back into DJing small garden type parties as well, so this will be removable from the studio desk for mobile use
The Yamaha MG12XU mixer is a keeper from my old setup and I will be using this as a mic sub mixer and extracting 6 independent outputs post faders to feed its awesome preamps into 6 of the analog inputs of the MX-1. This will give me 6 high quality mic/instrument preamps into the MX-1 and through it into the DAW. For mobile use, again to provide 12 channels of mic and instrument inputs with the DJ-202 connected to one of its stereo inputs. Keeping this one as karaoke and guest musicians are part of my DJ offering
I hope that explains the use of the 3 mixers well. I really like the fact that the MX-1 is line and digital level based. That means no compromises in trying to fit preamps into the small package and leaving the choice of preamps to the user. My Uffornica tube preamps will eventually replace the Yamaha mixer for studio use, but will still keep it for mobile use
I think it's a pretty basic and tidy setup for the features on offer as a set. I am open to guidance on streamlining this setup as I am new to these digital gear

My studio area is coming along well with painting done. Our renovations include a full new kitchen and bathroom, all DIY and taking up considerable time away from fun things like the studio build. I have now cut all the melamine that will make the studio bench and cabinet and prefit everything and all fits in well. Cant laminate the surfaces alone, need another set of hands and stuck here until I can find some help
Made the bench nice and thick and its hollow inside for stowing away all excess cables from sight and child safe
Does anyone have any experience with DIY deck savers?

I did a good job avoiding it until Easter dinner where it was passed to me. Better now. Brain fog, can you spell egg? Had no idea how, had to solve the problem, managed to google "breakfast, bacon and" with google filling in the egg for me. Still feeling wiped, heck, I am going back to bed. Hope you get over it, kind of know how you feel. When possible.
Long COVID is a very weird condition. Over six months in, I still have some bad days, and some good days. On the bad days climbing up a small flight of stairs feels like crawling up a cliff with a bagful of bricks tied to your ankles.
Then there's the brain-fog. A few days ago I literally couldn't remember what month it was. Checked the computer, it said April. I was sure that wasn't right, I was convinced it was February. Took minutes to convince myself that it really was April.
It's like getting a preview of what it might feel like to be very old, very frail, and living with dementia or Alzheimer's.
And I'm still one of the lucky ones. Just today a co-worker was telling me about a 43-year-old friend who got COVID, and is now in hospital with a leg filled with blood-clots, which are not responding to treatment. My upstairs neighbour has a young relative who got COVID, which made him diabetic and then affected his heart. He's not 30 years old yet.
On the positive side, it was nothing but bad days for months. Now at least I have some good days mixed in.

Its been a hectic period. I had completed making the shelves for the studio area but didnt get a chance to continue work. My aunt passed away and its been two weeks of driving and spending time with my folks in Sydney. Back at it now and the shelves are installed. The notorious Logitech Z623 is retained from the old setup until my DIY amps and speakers are done. The Yamaha MG12XU mixer is also retained
The mixer is fitted to a shelf that can be drawn out for full access

I have a question that doesn't seem to fit any category. I have a 2.1 amp module that uses class AB chip amps for the stereo channels, discrete class AB for the sub channel and tracking PSU. This has an embedded DSP based compressor/limiter on all the channels. There is no access to this though
I would like to implement something similar with FFA001V3 and the H/B version amp modules that I got from member Erica.C
Any tips on anything analogue or a digital module that I can look at?
