I was born and educated in Poland. I spent my best years seriously ski bumming. That means full time skiing for pleasure, whole winters in Tatra Mountains, 1982 season in Obertauern etc… Ones you put your hobbies in front of everything else it changes your life completely. I quit a full time job - I could not force myself to work for… oops I am getting political. My wife and I prefer a self-sufficient life style and plenty of time for DIY projects.
I treat my audio hobby very seriously. I built my dedicated room before I even build the house. I like chamber music best and I optimize my stereo for it. The room is medium size, about 4000 cubic feet, fully symmetrical with no parallel surfaces and plenty of diffusion. With multiple reflections the room has the acoustics of a bigger space but 1Watt is enough for concert level sound. The speakers are round, back loaded Lowther horns. I have a degree in composite materials technology so I was able to design a new material specifically for building the horns.
I then built my own turntable. The tone arms are home made - clones of Schroeder with small changes to better fit my table and cartridges.
I was hanging around other forums but I scarcely got any response to my projects.
I expect the international DIY community here to be more interested and critical.
Marek

Nice
Nice room and projects. What kind of animal died to give you that chair covering? Did you kill it with bare-hands or use any tools?

A couple of sheep; cause of death unknown. One thing for sure, it was not a skin disease. Blame Zealanders for it. I like to listen to vinyl but don’t like to sit on it. I build the chair to fit my tired spine and fur fetish.
Thank you all for kind welcome.
