Hi There!
Been a member of this site for a while, but I started my DIY hobby making headphone circuits (some of the headphone projects are painstakingly documented, which made them attractive as starting points). But now I'm ready to get into power amps, preamps and of course LOUDSPEAKERS.
I have a mixed engineering background, consisting of mechanical, electrical and controls/UI.
I have already learned a lot of great information on this forum and I look forward to learning a whole lot more. It's wonderful that sites like these exist.

I see that you are progressing to the next logical level of DIY abuse. Many have tried to escape it's powerful enticements - but few have been successful. Professional counseling is available - but the last counselor I tried would up getting hooked on the hobby and now he pays me!!

Yes, it's funny how addictive this DIY hobby is. What's even more funny is that the nominal reason that some people get into this hobby is to get high-quality audio at reasonable cost.
Fast forward a year into their hobby, and they've spent FAR more on their 'money-saving' DIY hobby than they EVER would on finished audio equipment. I would certainly fall in this category.

Depends on what is spent on the "finished equipment" - There are $5k turntables out there as well as $99 one's. Likewise for speakers and amps. But then you miss all of the fun of soldering iron burns (hopefully on the workbench and not on the fingers
) getting arc's and sparks and shocks 😱 and endless evenings of designing and building stuff only to discover that spousal unit (or others) are less than receptive (and thus the creation of the "Man Cave"). Ya just can't buy this sort of fun at any price!!!- Status
