Hello,

I'm a newbie from Barcelona. I'm an engineer with knowledge of electronics (but applied to Industry, I have few knowledge of it appliance to Hi-Fi systems :-( ). I'm very fond of those Hi-Fi systems of the late 70s and early 80s, I own a Teac BX-300 amp, a Technics SL-PG500A CD Player and a Akai AT-2450 FM/AM Tuner. My speakers are a pair of low-power vintage ones that I had at home.

It has been fantastic to discover this forum, and I hope to get a more wide knowledge of how Hi-Fi system works, and hope one day I could be able to build my own loudspeakers 🙂. Experiences from other people at the forum having the same Hi-Fi components (introducing improvements too) or people providing me some references to learn about the Hi-FI (books, the Internet) will be welcome.

Thanks a lot!!!

Making loudspeakers is the best place to start. You will be amazed at how much better you can can make a loudspeaker compared to buying one from a shop for the same price. Don't get me wrong; this isn't because the manufacturer is ripping you off. Start thinking about purchase taxes, dealer mark-up, packaging, freight to dealer, design cost (spread over fewer units than mass-market audio), return on investment etc. There really isn't much money left for drivers (it's a rare loudspeaker manufacturer that makes its own drivers).
