Just wanted to drop a quick note saying hi to everyone out here in DIY land. I have been using this forum for quite some time now, just searching - reading - using the resouce to help me with several of my own DIY projects. Thought it might be time to actually register and become more involved in the community as I might actually have something to add.

I have another reason for wanting to register as I am currently in the process of develping a site where fellow DIY'ers can post progress pictures of their projects. I am the kind of person that really need to see things to fully understand them and thought there might be others out there that would benefit from progress shots of different DIY builds. The hope is that along with descriptions and hints and tips to help the rest of us out builders will hopefully answer questions when they come up.

The website will be called www.diyaudiobuilder.com - I know - real original name huh? Anyway I am hoping that some of you "experts" log on and share your different project builds with us. I have quickly placed an example posting on how I built a cheap DIY LCD monitor mount on the site so maybe that will give everyone an idea of what I am hoping to see.

I also am planning on having a section for DIY product research and review where real end users can post their preferences and experiences in an easy to access database as well as a DIY product marketplace where everyone can post items for sale at no cost.

The site is just now underway, so if you visit it be kind as I really don't know all that much about website development (although I am getting some help from a friend who says he's an expert - lol)!

Just wanted to say hi to eveyone and invite you to drop by and take a look!

Chris

Thanks!

Guess I did not think of any confusion on the name... as you know finding a domain name that halfway makes sense is getting harder and harder as more people sign up for them and I was just happy to not end up with "www.iwanttobuildspeakersbutnotsurehow-cansomeonehelpme.com" 😉 I'm sure there are lots of good names out there that people have parked and are not using - when I set it up a while ago the names like diybuilder, audiobuilder, speakerbuilder, etc was taken.

My idea behind the diyaudiobuilder.com name is a site that focuses on the construction/fabrication part of a diy project for people who want to create a sort of "blog" on their different project builds. I got the idea after working on a speaker project a while back. There was a site that sort of outlined the construction process and gave some general direction, but I kept wishing there was a better way to ask questions rather than to keep emailing the guy.

But... I can think of a lot worse websites to be confused with 🙂
