Greetings all,

I'm a veteran of the Madisound Board but have now been clued in to this discussion forum by Sheldon Stokes.

You can check you some of my past projects here:

I've been building speakers for almost 5 years now. I used to be into making my own stunt kites. When I'm bored with speakers I might try making my own telescopes. Lately I've been involved with constructing a hobby sized machine shop. Basically a bench with a mini lathe and a mini mill.

My next speaker project will be an ESL project with dipole bass and active crossover.

Best regards,
Keith Kidder

Cool junk shop.

Welcome. Having a junk shop like that is handy, although I expect the detonator cables cost the taxpayer rather more than the advertised price.

Once you have your lathe and mill you will be amazed that other people can get by without them. What do you intend to make with them?

I havn't had the chance for much quality time with the mill. I hope to put the mill to use when I build an amplifier enclosure early this summer. But the lathe and I have been having a great time for over a year now. I'm always finding excuses to use the lathe. Two speakerbuilding related uses are linked below.

Scroll to bottom of page to see a big 5.0 mH coil I wound on the lathe.

A peek into my obsessive/compuslive/anal retentive personality.

Thank you for your reply!
I look forward to many fruitful discussions here.

Hi kidder

Welcome, some nice stuff on your homepage 😉

ESL and bass dipoles , what kind of amps will you be driving them with?

Cheers

Thank you for the kind words.

I'm not really sure what I'll be using for the ESL or the dipole woofers. I've got a 100W Rotel and some friends with Adcom GFA555, Hafler, Carver Sunfire. But I'd really like to try something different like the ZapPulse Modules from LCAudio
http://www.lcaudio.dk/com/zp2.htm
I'm looking for something with about 200W x 2, that I can use either on the ESL or on the dipole woofers if I choose. I'm hoping that a ZapPulse amp will be stable with a capacitive ESL panel while providing good sound quality. Or, if I choose, I'm hoping that this amp will offer good control with Lambda 15"TD-S LE woofers operating in free air (with active eq).

The ZapPulse modules seem very interesting to me but I'm uncertain of the technology.

Best regards,
Keith

Jeez I hate this particullar thread....

only because I forget to look in it and feel like a complete "boob" at times for not welcoming new members promptly.

Welcome! You are our kind of people for sure! 😎

Your gear looks good to me...at least from a "build perspective" I don't know much about speakers (hardly anything) yet.

What kind of telescope were you thinking of building?
