Just looking for some opinions.
For the top of the speaker, which direction do you prefer the grain to follow? In line with the front, or in line with the sides?
Thanks,
Jeff

I like vertical grain myself.
If you have a finely figured veneer, such as a flame maple, it shows up better that way, and looks more impressive.

What do you mean vertical????
Im talking about the top of the box. Its horizontal. I am wondering if people prefer the top of the boxes grain running the same direction as the sides or the front.

oops, sorry😉
Good question! I have always gone front to back, but for no particular reason I can think of, just habit🙂

I usually follow the grain of the sides. Every commercial speaker I can think of does this, but usually for reasons of economics as they use mitered panels to make their boxes.

I did notice that most mfg's align with the sides. This has always looked a little funny to me. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same or if it was just me. I think, from the pictures that I have seen, most DIYers run front to back. I was curious if anyone had actually thought about it, or if they just did it that way.
