I was recently given two bags of DAC chips (three in each) from a prof of mine. The bags are moisture sealed and anti-static so I can't even see the chips right now. I have never attempted to learn how to make a DAC before so please treat me as a beginner. Do I need to worry about the warning on the bags about mounting the chips within a week of bag opening?
What I would love to do is use all six of these eight channel chips to give a 48-out DAC (or possibly make two units each 24-out since the chip qualities would differ).
Are there some basics I should read up on? What are common pitfalls for new DIY DAC people like me?
