Good Venues

Since learning about architectural acoustics in a class this summer, I have become much more critical of the venues I go to to see live performances. I wanted to start this thread so people can share their favorite venues in their corner of the world and why they like it. Perhaps we can uncover some little known places where you can see some great shows.

My favorite is Spivey Hall. If you live in the Atlanta area, you must check out this magnificent hall. It boast some of the best acoustics in the U.S., and draws a very wide variety of performers. Making it even better, is its size. Last time I went, I was in the back, and still very close to the performers. Despite its great reviews, relatively few people know about the venue.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Looks interesting:
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

What shows did you go see there?

You should have gone to that place in Metz, France when we were there. I saw a string quartet there and it was great.

I like your bio information 😀

When are we going to get this thing rolling?

Detroit's Orchestra Hall
In 1970, following a series of marches and sidewalk benefit performances, musicians and friends of the DSO succeeded in saving Orchestra Hall from the wrecking ball. A year later the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 1989, after a painstaking, nineteen-year restoration, the DSO moved back into its historic home, considered one of the nation’s finest acoustic settings for orchestral music.
