Good speaker box design?

Just wondering... good or not?
15inch woofers is the idea.... with like 2 8inch for midbass and a tweeter or 2..
The boxes would be 2.4 metres high, with one port at the celing, one at the floor... could this be a problem? THANX!!

well, for one thing, if this is how you build it, it's vented, not ported.

Secondly, it's a wonderful design. It's got the same advantages of porting, but it doesn't get port noise as easily.

You can use Speaker Workshop to model this box if you just model half of it. I'd recommend making these your bass speakers (I assume this is for PA or other large-scale use; this is definitely bigger than typical listening-room fare 😀 ) and make the 8" mids and tweeters be in a separate box.

Check out PHL midranges. They're probably exactly what you're looking for.

Good luck!

get winisd pro/or other program like sub sim and model it,

unless you want large amps $$$$$ get something efficient

im estimating those boxes could be 180L each??
but since theyre brahmas, perhaps smaller box im not sure of their T/S specs.

2x1000watt amp? if u want!

if so a labhorn <or similar> would almost be worth it for 100db+/1watt,get more spl,less harmonics,better transients....:devily:..\

my jbl box complete btw :-D,..

oh if u want to post larger pictures,, go to www.download.com search for 'irfanview' its a free program that can convert to all sorts of pics jpgs at high or lo quality

isnt one 15 enough?

🙂

Each "box" (devision of the box) was going to be 200litres... the port volume alone would be about 50litres.... these are towers.... there would be 2 of them... so, two 1000watt 2 channel amps.. lol 3 phase power.. something like that... Hmm... I was really looking for a fairly high powered, LARGE woofer... soemthing like 21 - 24inch... with a relitivly high excursion... but wish me luck finding then in Australia...

All I had at the time of going that pic was Paint.. 🙂 I now have installed PhotoImpact, so I can resize and save in different formats now.. 🙂

your plans-$$$$

one labsub is about 600L anyway.

large woofer like 21inch = usualy compromised CRAP specs! such as-
audiobahn 34inch
Qts=0.96 Fs=13hz vas=700l or somthing 89db/1watt HAHAhaha ,5kw rms :mafioso:
fancy a HUGE box for crap sound?

3000$ US for a crap high q woofer..

i definately would go for either a nice 15 or, labsub.i cant fit a basshorn or else id either build labsub, order lab12 woofers from US or fit my own nautilus shell design

because amps are so expensive here : jaycar 350watt expensive price not wholesale amp+shipping of about 50$,

= i cant get the output i want with anything less than 94db/1watt or so..

make a basshorn😉 :dead: :devilr: :devily: :mafioso: :dodgy:

even my 2226 im wondering will it hav enough output with 150watt rms :devily:

so a 450litre TOWER that you may want to MOVE oneday? :dead:
if u got a labhorn u wouldnt need to spend 5k on amps.

< im dont sell labsubs I just REALY WANT ONE >

The terms vented & ported are interchangable and usually refer to a bass-reflex design. I say usually because we also now talk about ports (or vents) in ML-TLs & ML-TQWTs, and the term can be used in the context of aperiodic designs where the vent (or port) is damped.
