For me, selling locally definately pays better.
There is no way I would get $300-400 US for my panels on ebay. However, locally, people will pay that much because they can come to your house and see the panel working and know exactly if it is what they want. The majority of consumers are a bit leery of ebay.
I list my panels for free in the local "bargainfinder" paper, so there is no fee for my listings. The downside of listing locally is that it can take a few months to sell an item as opposed to days on ebay. The panels I mentioned above sold within 1-2 days of being listed because there happened to be people that needed devices ASAP for presentations. I have 2 panels in the local paper that have been listed for 2 months and so far only one guy came to see them (many calls but most people don't bother following up-they don't have a clue when you try to explain what an lcd panel is). The guy actually really liked both panels but didn't have the money. Eventually, someone (with money) will be interested enough to check out the panels and buy them.
So, to sum up, you will get more money selling locally, but it will be more of a hassle- you just need to be patient.

what you get to list them for free??????? wonder why My paper dosent do that. Hummmmm so what does your listing usually sound like, Im thinking of listing them under a lcd projector panel, great for movies etc...... the listing my phone and a aol screename so I can make a website etc to show them and people can email me also. Thanks for any further insight.
here in new england we have a magazine called the want advertiser which alows you to place ads for free, and you pay them when you make the sale. It is an honor system so you can scew them out of money if you like, but then your add stays in the mag and you get tones of peopl calling you 😀.
For my free listing, I think it is limited to 200 characters of text per ad or something like that and it runs for a full week- just need to remember to renew... also no fees when item sells. Links or emails are a good idea, but I'm not sure if they're allowed for free. I may need to look into that...
I usually list ad something like this:
Sharp LCD projection panel, comes with case, remote, all cables, very good condition. Great for home theatre/presentations.
People that respond to such ads are usually interested in a lcd projector, but don't want to spend a couple of grand on a new one. I invite them to come and see my setup, and explain that they should be careful of people selling older LCD projectors because of the high cost of replacement bulbs. As I have mentioned, the hard part seems to be convincing people to actually come and see the item (I guess that's because the majority that call aren't all that interested to begin with or don't understand exactly what it is I am selling). That's why a web link would be very useful.

Hummm thanks braxton and verbose, Im going to have to investigate more on this, I live about 45 min north of detroit so one would think there would be a free advertising publication since its a huge city. I will let you all know what I find out.

So verbose do all the nview panels use the 12v 2.5a power supply well the Z-110 115 210 215 etc I know the 310 and 350 use the wacky wierd 5 pin din with wierd voltages But judt wondered about the other panels. Talked to my brother tonight and he may have found some 115,210's but without the ps and I know your the Nview panel guru. LOL
Well, the z110, z115, z210, z215 all use a standard barral jack that can be bought anywhere such as radio shack. They are 12 volts 2.9 amps with the center of the jack being positive. 2.9 amps is hard to come by, so i have found that 2.5 amps will work all right too. The z3XX panels on the other hand are the funky 5 pin connector we all love. The z series panels also use a standard input as well as a mac. This means that you can go out and buy a regular VGA cable and use it with your panel, as well as a mac to vga cable that the panels some with. This alows for 2 vga inputs at the same time. Also, as i explained in another post, the only difference between zX10 abd zX15 is the 15 panels have video in, and the 10 panels do not. 😀
Ok now heres a question, I called mY local radio shacks yesterday to see what the Highest PS they had was and It was 12 v 1 a. So I was thinking I have tons of barrell plugs hanging around and a PC power supply has the right volts and enough amps, However you have a +12 but not a negatibe -12. am i Missing something?
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa your righttttttttttttttttttt.......LOL Sometimes I just get in DIY mode and everything has to be DIY LOL Im sure I can get some PS's for like 10 bucks each or so. Thanks for the help.
😎

lol. I know what you mean. for me there is a fine line between diy and **** it im going to the electronics store (not radio shack btw)...
