Toaster said:Hi Ant,
After some serious consideration I'm afraid I'm going to pass on the Perceives. There's no real financial or domestic issues as such, but I've got to realistic- I've got several projects in the pipe already, not only hi-fi but also combat robots and home DIY. The way the next few months is shaping up I can see the speakers ending up gathering dust until at least next summer and maybe beyond. Those waiting anxiously in the queue behind me won't thank me for saying so, but if I were in your shoes I'd stick them in storage in the UK and move them across to Germany once you're settled. At £1,000 they're clearly an outrageous bargain for someone who can commit the time to install and drive them properly, but for you they're a labour of love- and you can't stick a price on that. None of my damn business I realise, and you seem to be an admirably push-on-and-don't-look-back kind of guy, but some things are worth holding on to!
All the best,
John.
That's a relief John, a huge relief. I sent you an email and you'll see why that is doubly so 😉
£1000 was a little cheap 🙂 There's nothing that I've heard for £5k or under that will touch them and more often than not your looking at double and even triple that amount. I'd be a fool to myself for getting rid of them.
The rest of what is listed here can go and I know its easily replaced, the Perceives I could never so easily replace. So I really must exhaust all avenues before I can fully commit to selling them with good conscience. I suspect every DIY'er would feel the same apathy to their own projects so hope they can relate.

Definitely.
Finally he sees sense! I've been offering them to my mates all of which think there is a scam going on once I describe the time and effort you've put in and what they're worth subjectively speaking, and then what you're selling them for! Nuttah. 😀

It was a bit of a scam considering that they'd have got a blown tweeter and no crossover. 😀
Kinda like buying a car but the owner says "yeah, its one of the quickest things around" and then in the same breath mentioning "But one of the alloys is missing, you'll have to replace that. Oh and the gearbox is missing because I'm keeping it." 🙂
I really got into designing the replacements for the Perceives too. That will very likely still go ahead.
Toaster said:I don't get guilty about stockpiling drivers though, so if you still have the XLS 10s I will have those. I've changed computers recently, so I don't have your address handy anymore- if you could mail it to me I'll send you cheque or sort Paypal if you prefer.
John.
Sorry John, missed this post hidden away at the end of the page.
Yes the all four XLS10's are still available.
I'm not sure if my PM's are getting through though can you pass your email address to me or alternatively email me at zeroex_15 /at/ hotmail.com
Cheers
Ant

All gainclone related stuff including the SMPS's have been sold I'm afriad. Thanks for the interest though.
I'm not sure what's happening with email. I sent one today as a reply to the mail you sent earlier. That reply went out at about 18:30- if you didn't get that there's a problem somewhere! Obviously I am receiving OK. I've changed computers recently and don't have your home address handy any more, so if you mail me that we'll get going on the XLS10s- but only if you're sure you want to sell.
All the best,
John.

No such problems letting the XLS's go, Peerless will still have 'em in stock if I want some again.
