GM UUJ radio unlocking

I just picked up a new takeout GM 20934593 radio at a yard sale for $5. Its the CD/USB model from 2011-up trucks and vans. My thought is this: if I can unlock it, I'll shove it into my Ford Cargo van since it has a dead factory AM/FM. If I can't unlock it, I'll sell it on eBay since they're bringing $150.

How do I unlock it? I've seen videos where they take a chip off the board, but that was the older RDC units.

Its Vin coded radio.
So it wil working if you connect it with ecu and rewrite new vin.
You need open radio, check what type memory is in (24c0x, 93c46 or other).
Then desolder, read it , find vin and write new.

Or go to local car dealer to do with diagnostic equip.

If you were installing it into another GM vehicle it may be usable (but would probably have to be reprogrammed by the GM dealer).

It's probably not practical to try to use it in a non-GM vehicle since it needs to communicate with the body control module.

If you can sell it for $150, that will buy you a nice head unit.

Agreed. All of my research shows that it can be done, but of course people want money to do it 🙄

There is actually cheap software that I can download, but buying the $1000 worth of hardware to connect and read is the poopy part. I found a couple different youtube videos showing how its done (with the expensive hardware). Looks like they read the file, delete the VIN, and delete another line that tells it to look for a VIN and then its "unlocked" for all vehicles without needing any programming. Of course, it also effectively deactivates the anti-theft function.

thanks for the help. Looks like its going on Ebay. 🙂
