The THD metric does not describe your amplifier. The Fourier transform generates some generic statistical trash. The impression of sound arises in your brain.
I suppose it's corona virus time, end nothing useful to do but useless discussion with entrenched anti GNFB cohorts.
I wish it were confined to these times, but as you sadly know, these trenches have existed long before and will continue long into the future. 🙁
I know it is impossible to reason someone out of a position they have not arrived at by reasoning.
True, but more likely:
Upton Sinclair said:It Is Difficult to Get a Man to Understand Something When His Salary Depends Upon His Not Understanding It
I think your sweeping statement is both incorrect and handcuffing. It's sort of surrendering to convenience.Traderbam, you replied to my: You can't correlate good measurement with good sound, because every bodies idea of good sound is different." and called it dogma.
No dogma. I can easily proof that the idea of good sound varies among listeners. You can too, as you are aware.

Very easy to prove. Give ten people ( including the self proclaimed golden ears around here ) an EQ that has no numbers on it all bands turned off and ask each one to adjust the EQ till the music sounds best. Ill quit DIYaudio if 3 of them come up with the same settings.
How do you find these things??
Nothing that is true is popular, and nothing that is popular is true..
Not universal, but often. But towards the end he starts to repeat himself. Should have cut it 4 mins short.

That`s why I distrust commonly held opinions.

Haha, Jan I find him amusing, very clever guy but not by popular standards . Imagine that someone like Tesla or Steinmetz are alive in the present and they have the youtube channel, they were not excentric ? 😊
I'm not in either of two groups formed about this topic, but discussion should lead to something constructive, otherwise it's USELESS.

Except when they are based on facts and figures. But then, you can argue, they are no longer opinions.

"Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth." - Marcus Aurelius, emperor and thinker (an odd combination)
"Nothing exists except atoms and empty space, everything else is opinion". - Democritus (a great thinker)

You can't blame AR; serious science and understanding of the scientific method is only a couple of centuries old.
