DF?
Regards
DF=dissipation factor or tanδ (delta)
"However, lower DF is usually an indication of quality capacitors when comparing similar dielectric material."

Ok, thanks vgeorge. I believe the function would make the lcr meter a bit more expensive. Since I don't have one and have been thinking to get one - why not...
Regards
The Tonghui has 5 digits for DF on the secondary display. Even the TH2821B cheaper model. They are OEM for Agilent, BK etc.
Damping Factor.

I expect a higher DF the larger C I'm measuring of the same series cap.
A Silmic II 1000uF would show a higher DF than a 47uF. Can one expect it to be linear?

You don't expect, its a complex thing. Smaller electrolytics are usually lossier for the same broad type i.e. normal ESR, low ESR characterized. You just compare same size cans with about the same value and voltage rating. Just browse some popular types manufacturer's spec sheets to get an idea.

Ok, thanks salas. Something one must grow a feeling for then.

Added my self to the GB, another Folded simplistic, Folded Raw PSU Board amongst other. I just have to have the power supply board look just as beautiful. 🙂

I was unsure what is included in the kits. I ordered:
1 SALAS FOLDED PHONO $52
1 The Folded Minikit $48
1 Folded Raw PSU Board $15
1 PRP RIAA resistors .1% 25 ppm 2-47k and 2-6.754k $8
Is that what I need for a stereopair? I know where to look regarding whats inkluded in the kits.
(I also ordered 2 full SSHV for another thing)

The info on the minikits is in the first post. One minikit is enough for a stereo pair.

I will be making some minor changes to the kit, to be posted sometime soon, based on some parts substitutions, product availability and lessons learned.
Thanks,
Tea

Looking forward to see your measurements. Mine is 25 years old and can not measure Dissipation factor 🙁

By hearing I have found that bigger usally is better. Exactly the same with bipolar. DCA 800 V sound much better than 200 volt types. Is a matter off thickness off the paper I think.
Panasonic M is small and the sound is terrible.
Is the run over or is it still possible to sign up for a minikit + board?
Yes, there will be a second board run. As long as spreadsheet is up - you can sign up!!😀
RAW PSU action photos
Okay,
RAW folded PSU arrived today.
After dinner, then drifting off listening to my wife discuss taxes and work, I built this board up in no time. It even worked. I have not listened to it with RIAA yet, but wanted to give you shots earlier. I may have to re-think my own PSU since I did not design with board in mind.
Here it is. Salas design of course, nice layout, discussed earlier in thread. 85mm x 95mm at 2mm thickness - 2oz copper traces on both sides.
Side by side
Close up
One side with 36Vx2 tranny attached.
Other side
And a couple shots to show my low quality bending of leads and weld onto board skills
I ordered enough of these to pay off the prototype building costs. Since the prototype works, this is also now the production board.
If you have previously got boards from last round, and want one of these asap, then PM me. There are few on the list that have first dibs.

Looks slick & cool. The LED can alternatively be extended to a front panel of course. How high that 36VAC nominal Tx go for real on your mains? 41VAC per secondary?
17 Januar we will use the riaa in our " Copenhagen Hifi Club Hvidovre " .
25 people will be the Judge.
Will bring a report.
By the way I use a 40 Vac 200 w R core and have 44,5 vdc out because off 22 ohm before diodes in each channel. 10 ohm between first and second caps.

10-15ohm 5W between bridge and cap (RD/Link) should be good for eating 5V rouglhy with one channel FSP as load per secondary but impossible to say exactly for each different size and make transformer. It would take some trial and error in each case. 470R 10W dummies can be used as safe play load simulators. 45-50V final raw DC between mains min-max cycle is nice.
Erlend good luck with the meetings.

Ok, I made some updates in the chart. I found it a little sporadic on what is included in the kits when comparing first post with the pdf guide. Maybe I am missing something, or there will be updates.
