But Canada has signed a free trade treaty with the EU. :) I'll try anything to have a (hopefully) unrequired two year warranty!

If a unit over here requires repair at some point, would the equivalent of a service manual be available? I'm talking about a schematic and PCB layouts to ID the components to aid in troubleshooting. A signal path explanation would also make life easier. I for one would be willing to sign an NDA as part of that bargain.

Have the same question regarding basic in for repair. Happy to sign up to an NDA also though the sort of info I'm thinking of would be that which would appear in a typical repair manual (and as noted by Chris) and would not require access to proprietary info.

Service maual TBD?

There will of course be an arrangement for service, although I hope that it won't be needed. Regarding availability of service manuals, this is still TBD.

Don't wish to sound rude but why would a basic service manual be TBD? Appreciate it takes effort to compile and I fully respect a desire to protect anything proprietary (I would!) but the ability to have enough info to do basic repairs would be reassuring, well at least to me.

Simple. His commercial partner has to protect the IP and may not be in the habit of issuing service information. That could be a very prickly conversation. However, signing an NDA gives them legal recourse if details are released and they can track down how did it.

Happy to sign an NDA, I do it all the time for my business dealings, but in this case I'm not actually proposing we get access to anything that would be 'confidential'. I just want to be able to do basic fault finding when silly things happen that I may be able to sort myself. The alternative seems to be returning the unit to the manufacturer, from the UK in my case.
