This is not to mess with your GB problems

But after reading through this whole horror thread, I find it impressive that at least he tried to handle this impossible situation
And Im impressed by the patience and friendly behaviour of involved members

But I cant help but think that this whole mess could have been avoided so easily
First, those items should have been showed here before any further shipping
Im sure he would have been asked to just return the lot to the supplier

We are not talking minor details like wrong labels with strange letters or numbers
With such bent and cut legs its easy fore everyone to see somethings not right

Im surpriced he shipped these fakes in the first place
But theres probably no more to say than "lesson learned"

Right now Im looking at quality caps, and Im also thinking thats its all too easy to show nice pictures, but you still dont know what ends in your mailbox
One has to be very careful
Some time ago I ordered and payed a product in UK england, and wondered why I didnt get anything
Just now I recieved mail from Thailand with tracking number
Its a strange world sometimes

Hope you dont mind a stupid(risky) question :umbrella:

After I suggested that these items should never have been shipped in the first place, and all this mess could have been avoided

I wonder why you were not shown any pictures, and asked wheteher these were ok, as it was obvious quality was wery lacking
Especially when they were supposed to be of highest quality

Does this member have completely no knowledge of how they ought to look when being of good quality
Obviously something backfired here
This is all pretty strange
I dare not say what I think
And I may be wrong
I better not think at all

In retrospective this is all correct but A'af did not come out of nowhere to offer this parts here. Long time before this started he was known for selling hard to get or obsolete semiconductors and ICs on this forum. Apparently what he sold over the years has always been okay, otherwise someone would have complained years ago.

As I understand it there was plenty of people having doubts before ordering
Warnings were quite clearly stated
But maybe missed by many who came in later, I dont know

I don`t know which thread You have read and what means "plenty" for You but here in this thread there has been exactly one person who seriously raised doubt that all this was real. It was member 'grataku', Page-9, post#205. Besides this and of course I have asked myself the same question over and over myself (and surely the other participants as well), at this time the group buy was already nearly completed.

But its a bit beyond me why nothing was done to have some samples sent over for inspection
and test, before running the show

Have You ever seen a group buy or sale on this forum were samples have been sent out for inspection beforehand? Or when You buy something at ebay or from an online shop, do You get samples to check before You buy?
Sellers live from their reputation. As mentioned, A'af has been known to successfully trade with obsolete or rare devices for quite some time before all this. There was no reason to believe that this time it would be any different.

What lesson please?
That this world is increasingly flooded with fake items and that You can`t trust anyone anymore? The only safe way to avoid something like this for sure is not to buy anything, in particular not hard to find electronic devices (BTW: nowadays it even happens that You can get fake semiconductors from well known distributors and not only in Asia, in Europe and US as well ).
Otherwise this can happen anytime again.

But ofcourse its all too easy to be wise afterwards
Or have opinions of something you are not involved in
Actually its pretty stupid of me to say anything at all

You summed it up pretty well Yourself IMO.
I think You can stop beating the dead horse now.

Still waiting?

Do you really think buying from Digkey, Farnell, Bürklin or Reichelt is similarly risky?

I don't think so. I've learned my lesson. 😉

Years ago I ordered parts from MCM Newark.
Instead of Sanyo transistors, they shipped me a large box, which arrived months later after travelling the world, with rubber flat belts inside, a whole lot of flat belts.
MCM Newark is part of Farnell.

Hang on, what's this ? I'm still posting on this thread ?
Please, someone, anyone, shoot me.

I didn`t say this.
All I said was that nowadays, although it`s less likely but You still can`t be completely sure not to get fake semiconductors, even from well known and reputable distributors.

And the lesson is?
Don`t buy from offers on (DIYAudio) forums?

You'd guess what my lesson is:

It's stunningly simple. Don't buy from unknown retailers on forums, ebay
etc., especially from abroad.
At the very least it'd be much easier to get your hard earned money back
from a reputable seller in Germany (in your case).
It's not unlikely you'd have had your money back if you'd live in Indonesia.
On the other hand I wouldn't have any worries at all if reliable guys like
Jacco, ZenMod, J.Dupont or Elfenreiter have their hands on it. We all know
them for years.

Of course anyone involved in here has to make his own conclusion. 😉

I guess You didn`t read the thread and as it seems You don`t know how this story evolved at all either.

I`ve written it elsewhere but `ll repeat it for You.
"A'af" has been known on this forums long before this groupbuy.
He sold tons of hard to find, obsolete etc. audio related semiconductor devices (DACs etc.) and apparently his customers were satiesfied. As the guys on this forum are probably among the most demanding customers one could imagine, when it comes to audio parts, this means something.

So "A'af" once has been known here what You call a "reliable guy"......🙄
