Are these fets a big deal?
I can easily get the 2sj74 , 2sk170 similar fets for F4 amp eg. etc from a source in Europe at only about 1.50 - 2.00 euro each small quantities included.
Having to fork up 250 usd when you only really need 4-8 fets seems excessive.

Hi protos,
I know it is cheaper to get 2SJ74/2SK170 and try to match them up. But sometimes these JFETs' spec vary from a wide range and you really need to acquire quite a lot and spend some time to match them up.
Then I would like to spend some more money and make life easier. You don't need to fit into my shoes for sure. 🙂

I got a last time buy for the 2SJ74 some time this summer. It came from Arrow Nordic that is the local distributor.

Have you heard this, too?

I was hoping that Toshiba would make an SMT version of the monolithic duals, but they have not done so yet. Maybe if Sony or Pioneer (or Parasound!) places an order for a couple of hundred thousand they would do it.
