Hi
Yesterday I fell for an impulse and ordered a pair of the mentioned drivers from hifikit.se.
Specs:
Vas 27L
Fs 30Hz
Qts 0.51
30-20000Hz
89dB/w
Picture:

I´m already using the bass (same basic specs but without whizzer cone) version of this driver in my closed "subs" and they sound pretty good so I´m very curious about the fullrange version.
The funny thing is that I can´t find any info about them online,
the bass version seem to have been used in a few swedish speaker kits 30 years ago but there´s absolutely nothing mentioned about the fullrange version.
My idea is to use one BBK200 and one BBK200F per channel in a 1.5 way OB setup.
If anyone has any experience of these drivers (both LF and FR versions) please share!

It really ought to be this speaker: http://www.vissokogovoriteli.plc.bg/products/VK-201BF4_BF8.htm . No T/S specs however. And the price is a grand 10 US $ each.😎 Do report your OB progress.
Cheers !

It sure looks identical, though Fs is 3x higher on this one and the price is definitely much lower!!
I went to the hardware store and bought MDF for a pair of test baffles this morning before work. When I come home from work I´ll connect the drivers and let them break in for a couple of hours while I cut holes for them in the baffles.

The OBs has been playing for two hours now. The only crossover component is a 25mH iron core inductor in series with the bass driver. 25mH is probably way too high, I will borrow some smaller inductors from a friend later on.
As expected these speakers are no bass monsters (correct inductors, a few more hours and a little help from a pair of W-baffle dipole woofers might change that...) but I must say that the fullrange units sound pretty good.
Open baffles has never worked well in my living room, the reason I´m doing this is that I´m moving to a house next week.
New room, new possibilities...
Edit: I hope I mentioned that these baffles are just prototype 1.0... Also note that the bass units and the fullrangers weren´t as identical as I thought, the frames and the magnets looks identical but not the cones.

Per Snickare in Gagnef, who used to build speakers, can't find him on the web now, once told me about OBs he had built for a customer with 8 BBKs on each side. Quite good bass he said ! Yes, you proabably will need more low bass. Good luck !

Gagnef, that´s almost my neighborhood🙂
I think BBK200 is a fairly good driver for OB applications. I´ll see if I can get the tonal balance right by changing the inductors, right now Johnny Cash sounds a bit like Donald Duck...

Roky,
I put the wrong name, it should be Per Målare. He is in Nordåker, Gagnef where my wife and I also have a little place. I think he has abandoned speaker manufacture now. But he had some quite spectacular units in production earlier, but I don't think the marketing was very successful. The BBK200 OB was a success, he thought. You shouldn't be needing something more than 8 -10 mH inductor.

I believe High Fidelity reviewed a speaker made in Gagnef some years ago. A two way bookshelf speaker with a hornloaded tweeter and concrete baffles IIRC.
8-10mH would probably be fine, with 25mH the bass drivers hardly move even at the lowest frequencies.

Two 25mH chokes in // definitely changed things to the better but two 8" drivers per channel is still not enough.
The mkII version will employ two 15" woofers and one Fostex FE167E per channel, I got the woofers almost for free and I already have the Fostex drivers.

I e-mailed Hi-Fi Kit about the BBK200F and they answered it is made to their specs, when I pointed to the specs given by Gamma. F-n trot ! But please continue to experiment with the Gamma fullranger, it will be interesting to hear your comparisons with Fostexs. If you have any chance to measure BBK200F it would also be interesting, because I think it has potential.
