Gainclone on the cheap?

Not sure what cambridge audio amplifier you have, and I know you are probably set on building the gainclones, but dont foget that it will probably be quite simple to fix it. It may just need a replacement of the output trannies in the offeding channel. But if you are set on the clones then I dont think that voltage will be a problem. Their amps usually come in 30 and 50 watt versions, so you'll be OK.

Also to discourage you even more from my other idea of attempting a fix, I would imagine that the clones would sound better then the amp anyway.

Oh and to your first question gain clone on the cheap? I thought the whole point of a clone wasnt to spend much money anyway 😀.

ANYWAY my copy of LSPcad pro arrived yesterday, shall be having lots of fun this weekend.

Yes, i pretty much figured that the mountings could be re-used - thus saving me even more!

I had considered repairing it. There are 4 output devices (2 per channel) and of what looks like differing types if i remember (been sometime since i had it opened). Maybe i should open her up again. I seem to remember that i had no idea what the output devices are in order to replace. Its a PM25 mk2. The output devices are (just looked) SK A1186 and SK C2837. 1 each per channel. The sound from one channel is full the other is thin. (both do work) Perhaps the trim needs adjusting?
