Yes, I'm just using a stepped attenutator as a passive preamp. Connections to CD and amps from the attenuator (hard wired at attenuator) are under half a metre long.
My valve preamp is nearing completion so I will try them with that.
My GC integrated which will have a buffer and LPF is also off the starting blocks. Later, I will probably change the buffer (OPA627) to an amp purely to see what it does to the sound. Plenty of options still to explore!
