Those heatsinks are back in stock and I can offer them at $18 USD a pc.

Daaayyyamm! That comes to a little over $150 a foot for that extrusion! And these are from a surplus supplier?

se

P.S. I have an 8.5" length of this extrusion I'll sell you for $25 if you're interested.

But those are not exactly the same thing. They are missing copper tubing. The heatsink I'm offering is unique piece of hardware, which allows to build uniquely looking amp. Although mine are coming from a local place, as you see, the price I quoted was very close to what's available on a web. Of course, I'm paying slightly less, but for it to be worth my trouble this is what I have to ask. One could say, that surcharge is for the idea how to implement it.😉

If anyone is really interested in that design, I can also supply other custom chassis parts.😎

Hey Peter,

I was just at Active yesterday and spotted these, and was reminded of your amp. I was debating about buying a few, but most of the fins were a little bent out of shape. You could probably straighten them though.

Cheers,
RonS

p.s. ever bought Alps pots at Supremetronics? I picked up a Blue Velvet yesterday, still trying to figure out if it's real or a fake. I think it's real...

If you look at the fins they are all curved in one direction, but the new batch is pretty good shape. You can straighten them pretty easy too.

The blue Alps are definitely original. I've been buying them before. They used to have Black Beauty at the same price, but the log pots are not available anymore.

Thanks Peter. Yes, a few years ago I bought my Black Beauty from them, too bad they don't have them anymore 🙁 I also buy my RCA jacks there, the gold colour seems more Red than it used to be??

What about transistors? They now have 2SK170BL in stock, ($1.80! yikes). I've bought 2SK389 from them before, they look original but it's hard to tell. Do you trust them for Toshiba transistors? I need a few for my Pass Ono.

Cheers,
RonS

Peter, I'm definitely interested in your K170's, and I'm in no hurry at all. Can you let me know when and how much they will be? I'll have to see how many I need, don't have the Ono schematic with me. By the way, you are certain that your parts will be genuine? May I ask the source of the parts? I'm being very cautious these days because there is a lot of reports of fake parts/transistors etc.

Thanks again,
RonS

Oh, no. I didn't mean to imply that they were. Just thought they might be something you'd want. 'Course anyone else that wants it is more than welcome. And I actually have two but the other one's got about 14 taps in it. This one's virgin. 🙂

Ah, ok. I thought the heat exchangers were a separate item that you'd added to the heatsinks. I thought what you were talking about was that extrusion and thought that there were four of them used to make up the amp.

I got thinking last night after I'd posted that the dimensions you gave seemed to be rather large compared to what I saw in the picture. Now I understand where the confusion came from.

My mistake.

Hey, you'll never get any flak from me for being a capitalist pig. 🙂

Anyway, the price makes more sense now that I see what's actually being priced.
