Hopefully an easy question....

I longer own a turntable, so all my sources are either a tuner or a digital source (CD, DVD, etc.).

I've noticed that many amplifiers have sensitivity specifications like "rated power output at 0.75 Vrms input".

Given that CD maxes out at about 2 Vrms, is there any reason why I would want to build an amplifier more sensitive than this?

Hi,
Yes, a little gain helps.

My CD player is going through a pot then straight into my amp. Which needs about 1V rms for max power (22W). Sometimes, I come across a CD that has a low output and a little pre-amp would be most welcome to boost the volume up.
