G2 alu Ribbons experience

Im busy contructing a speaker (who of you isn't! 😉 )
It is 4 way active with 2x Peerless HDS 182 lows, 1x Audax HM100Z0 mid (500Hz-2k5) with waveguide, and initially for the highs I wanted a triple tweeter array (already bought it) vifa DN26 neodym 1" with triple CD-waveguides (already made them, looks and measures really nice...) this should be like MMT config. So the 2 first tweeters do 2k5-6k, and the upper one 6k-30k....
Center-distance between the tweeters is 42 mm....
There is also an additional sub (12" with pass membrane, 50L) with all the electronics inside....

Unfortunately I don't know how to place the pics on the net (have space though) but I'll find out and it comes later...

But I see a lot of aluminium ribbons around, and now for the high's, I changed plans..... so does anyone have experiences with these G2 ribbons:

I'm Interested specially how they are soundwise and compared to average dometweeters....

Would be nice if the magnet was smaller, to fit in my 1", 42 mm centerdistance triple waveguide


If I'm gonna use the ribbon, I will also make a CD waveguide for it.....

I've seen the same drivers under a lot different brandnames 🙂
And i'm indeed really interested in the other ribbons at parts express......
Aren't they all a bit the same? the more expensive the higher the sensitivity?
I don't want to use a ribbon thats too big (height) ... vertical dispersion might get too small ......
 
BOTTOM PORTS

Your cabinet design would easily allow bottom mounted ports. Bottom mounted ports can give better isolation of rear cone midrange radiation from having a direct ear path, and also can give higher and more uniform floor gain. A bottom floor board would better guarantee uniform dispersion on hard floors or carpeting. You can also decide to vent either just to the front, or to three sides to better disperse the long wavelengths.

B&W uses bottom ports on their Nautilus, and their website has technical discussion of the reasoning.

cabinet will be quite full of damping, and a little bit high tuned (54Hz), because I like that more.... gives more efficiency at 60-80 Hz...., and a bit better transient resp.....
And of course I'll be using seperate pass. rad. sub for 50Hz and down...🙂
I'll use the 54Hz 4th order acoustic high pass filtering of the speaker itself, so the sub is getting linkwitz 54Hz low pass... the speaker itself gets no electronic high pass.....

But I dont think there will be so much backradiation out of the port? I've a round back, and loads of damping on the back......
port res. is at about 900Hz....
well maybe I'll change it....
 
People do play games with the term "ribbon"...the HiVi tweeters that I have seen are planar transducers, not ribbons, so at least look at this carefully before buying. PE also sells a cheap ribbon that would probably not qualify as a "true" ribbon since it uses multiple tracks on a plastic element.

but the "ribbons" or whatever I like to go and use are probably the aluminium things, same as the older and known eton ER4...
Very light membrane, and from what I see indeed probably officially no ribbon, the thin alu (harmonica folded) band is used as the voice coil itself..... but lets call it a small line source 😉
Efficiency is quite high (96 dB, at least they say so...)
Im curious for experiences from others with this type of tweeters, soundwise etc., they look extremely vulnerable?
