hi i am planning to build a pair of g chang speakers, i have an idea i would like to use but it slightly modifies the design could you tell me if this would effect the sound?

i thought it might look nice to make the section highlighted in the pic below out of one piece of curved laminate, this would mean the corners wouldnt be as tight

would this have a negative effect on the sound quality?

maybe if i could get the ply to bend tightly enough i could also make the center part out of one piece of curved laminate aswell, like below, this might envolve steaming the wood to make it more plyable.

thanks in advance for any help

also i read its worth adding an internal brace, is there a specific design to follow for this?

see Jaguar - page 7 of attached plan set

Note that this type of combined driver / enclosure bracing is assumed for all Planet10 / Woden designs, and occasionally gets overlooked on the drawings.

The main features of this bracing scheme are:

- tightly couple as many surfaces as possible with a single panel (generally 4 for vertically oriented braces and 3 for horizontal, as well as driver magnet
- for very large/heavy drivers a notch or cradle to support magnet is handy, but rather troublesome to fit
- on very tall enclosures, staggered interlocking or additional braces perpendicular to the main brace can be beneficial
- vertical bracing is preferable to window-pane horizontal bracing for MLTLs etc,
- offset from vertical center line, generally by thickness of material,
- openings in brace don't need to be holes (if you have access to a CNC router you could go to town on size / shapes)
- don't occlude internal openings of vent or horn throat, etc with bracing or damping pads

attached is a completely different enclosure design type for FE167E, but gives a general idea of bracing scheme
