Fuse replacement for Threshold SA/10e

It has a lot to do with where the fuse is located. If it's in series with the
signal path at the output of the amplifier, then there is more potential for
problems, but if it's in the power supply, the effects are going to be less by
virtue of the PSRR, the power supply rejection ratio of the circuit, that is the
ability of the circuit to ignore noise and distortion in the supply.

The issues with a fuse are two-fold. First, there is a subtle modulation of the
resistance value of the fuse which could be a source of distortion. The higher
the value of the fuse, the less the effect, and the longer the time constant
of the fuse (slow-blow vs fast blow) also has an effect.

As you reduce the potential for modulation in a fuse, you reduce the
protection it offers.

Second, the quality of the connection between the fuse and fuse holder can
be a source of distortion if the contact surfaces are dirty or oxidized.
