Mixing the Full Moon and discussions about wiring and cryo always results in boring heated debates.
Here is something from research in china Effect of Cryogenic Treatment on Microstructure and Properties of Pure Copper. Measurement showed "The electric conductivity of pure copper had a little improvement of 3% with cryogenic treatment, from 5.42×10-7 S·m-1 to 5.58×10-7 S·m-1."
It shows statement of "nobody has every been able to measure any changes in resistance" made in #14511 to be a false claim.

Very sorry, the subject is of interest to me but I also realize cryo discussion will be boring to those not interested in metallurgy. Seems the effect is there but not significant enough to be of help to improve performance of input DC choke I seek.Mixing the Full Moon and discussions about wiring and cryo always results in boring heated debates.

Here we go again, the treacherous cable mystique...Why not specify the desirable features of audio cable in the first place? As for now, you are just taking a stab in the dark.
Interesting link, thanks for this! This is the first time a came across a contribution to the 'eternal' cryo discussion in audio forums that really relates to some scientific research. Here is something from research in china Effect of Cryogenic Treatment on Microstructure and Properties of Pure Copper. If you've got more of this kind, I'd really be interested. Maybe this is not the right thread for a deeper discussion about practical (in the sense of audible) implications when it comes to cables. And I'm not sure whether conductivity would be the core property to address regarding audio quality, maybe surface effects on granular structures would be more interesting to discuss.
If you should consider to open a new thread for a discussion, please drop me a PM so I don't miss it!
I have to say "tube connectors" has to be included in the theory database.Super high profit margin devices claimed to instantly improve the sonics of your system.
A large proportion of the participants of such discussions are not truly interested in the material science itself with half baked knowledge but have very strong convictions. We all know the net result of such debates, little to no progression of knowledge. I myself have very little interest in cryo effect in cables, too many variables to consider, expensive and miniscule amount of achievable gain, but I detest spreading of falsehood as fact.... cryo discussion in audio forums that really relates to some scientific research...
You touch on an aspect of social psychology which seems universal to me.
Many, rather than having a passion for truth, actually are seeking a sense of superiority by being seen to be more knowledgeable, and in doing this they neglect truth seeking and their agenda rules their thoughts.
Current liberal elite culture is full of this with its attendant desire for fame and notoriety, as epitomised on many BBC programmes, and also with many academics choosing media as their focus.
Raw truth is very much a 'backroom boy' pursuit, and can actually result in the individual's rejection by many.

Regarding the thread's main topic: Snake Oil Theories, and the usual experience that threads often "wander" to non-audio related subjects....
The "wire" topic, which is notorious for its volitility seems redundent in here.
And 20 feet of speaker wire amounts to a tiny fraction of resistance in the typical audio sense.
Whether it's been treated, annealed, frozen, or wrapped in hand-sewn silk wouldn't make a damn bit of difference to the human ear.

Is it just me, or dose some really expensive TELLURIUM Q speaker cables look suspiciously similar to 350 ohm down feeder with a bit of braid over it, just a bit of a price difference...
The traditional cryogenic treatment is performed on steels and cast irons to improve hardness as well as wear and corrosion resistance while we are interested in the outstanding electrical properties of the uncontaminated copper. It takes a considerable technological effort involving dedicated processes to achieve nearly 100% purity from the mineral rock containing just a few percent copper.
.
Good quality audio cables are made of surface plated, multi-strand, homogenous, oxygen-free copper and suitable dielectric materials.

I doubt oxygen free copper makes an audible difference.
This is my opinion.
I doubt there exists a proof of this, apart abundant BS claims.
Do buy whatever copper you like.

Classic Dunning-Kruger syndrome. The ignorant are very confident in their half baked convictions.
This has become the rule rather than the exception. It also plays right into divide and conquer strategies. 🙂

Come on over to this side of the pond mate, and you'll be astounded at the ubiquity of buttheads like this. And it's a recent phenomenon too.
People are on edge. Whether I'm at work or with friends, people want to talk about outrageous conspiracy theories and they get really agitated. My best friend of 50 years is driving me crazy; I don't even want to talk to him any more. When I'm at work, I can at least redirect the conversation back to work topics.
It's really stressing me out.

Ain’t that the truth, I’ve got people I thought were half ... intelligent spewing all kinds of bull excrement.

OK that makes sense, since it's a bioengineered weapon of mass destruction.

Speaking of 5G and the virus. Give this a go if you have not.

It's gotten really bad lately, I must say. It's to the point where I got stopped by some dingbats on my way into my apartment on campus the other day, because I was carrying an amplifier that bared the Quested logo. Apparently, to some people, that logo looks like that of a well-known conspiracy theory. The thing that I found disturbing was that these people were genuinely excited, thinking they'd found "another one for their team". They looked genuinely bummed out when they realized that wasn't the case.
I try really hard to stay grounded in reality.

Yeah, they're apparently implanting a Boss guitar pedal in your head.
