It's maybe just an uncorrelated undisturbed superposition
of electron density, electron mobility and signal transfer.
And all largely irrelevant. All that is required of a short audio wire metal is that it has sufficiently low and linear conductance that its resistance forms a negligible part of the potential divider formed by the source impedance and load impedance. In addition, it must not corrode too easily and be reasonably rigid but not too rigid. And reasonably cheap.

Snake oil exists because the active ingredient within has not been isolated, identified. Once that's done the reason for the stuff getting any airplay vanishes, as do the ripoff merchants.

Medicine has been using that technique for a long, long time ...

No, talking about the real deal stuff - jungle medicines with "heap big powers", where it turns out there are chemicals within that 'really do things' ...

A lot of the weirdo audio stuff is about playing games with the distortion spectrum, just keep altering and adjusting that to give you a flavour that suits. But, there are instances where there are very positive benefits, buried under the overcooked hype - strip away the useless layers and explanations to discover that which is useful ...

So neither of you can give any theories as to why putting bits of wood under your cable improves the sound (why do theses mods always improve the sound), so we will have to consult the Wizards at the Unseen University because obviously magic is involved.

It should be obvious -> When the cables are "lifted" they are surrounded by air instead of an another kind of material with other properties than air.
