Hi,
I am planning on building a 2.1 system with two full range monitors. I am planning on using the Tang Band W3-1335SB. So my plan is to have one speaker per box. I would also like it to be a passive a radiator system though. The Tang Band has a matching PR for this driver which is the W3-1335A. I have heard when you have a passive radiator it should have 1.5x-2x the surface area at least. So I would be using two Pr in each speaker. I was going to possibly use this design at Design of Zaph's W3-871S Fullrange Monitors, but now I don't know what the PR's would do to the cabinet. So if anybody could help me design a cabinet that uses the pr's effectively or knows a link to one that would be great. The sub I am building has an 8" driver and two 8" pr's and that will be in a 19 liter cabinet so maybe I could just make the design smaller and use it for my fullranges? here is the sub design I'm using.

Why would you like it to be passive radiator?
The effect of adding them is similar to adding a reflex port, but seeing as you're crossing over to a subwoofer, I see no reason to extend the LF response of a driver that won't be playing those frequencies.

They won't always be used with sub and I'm not planning on putting in a crossover, but if you thinks its a bad idea to put them I guess they are not totally necessary. I also would like the sub cross over not to be too high and I am guessing the PR's will help extend the frequencies of the 3' a little bit or at least help it be able to hit lower notes in its frequencies better.

In my experience there is one advantage with passive radiators:
If the PR has a rigid and well damped membrane it will have
less unwanted radiation in the midrange and there are no port
resonances.
So for 2-ways or fullrangers a PR is an interesting option, though
i seldom used them.
Kind Regards

I'm guessing between 100-110hz. Thats another reason I want to try the pr's to try something a little bit different. The speakers I have seen with pr's are all sub and they are all the same size as the driver. I have never seen them in full ranges before. Just wondering if I should kind of cube them like the4 sub is or stick with that design for cabinet size.
