If the AX50 is not 'superman enough' than perhaps the 1749A will do: DARIO 1749A Tube redresseur biplaque à vapeur de mercure et à gaz
This is my favourite full wave rectifier. It sounds so much better than 2x866A, grown men have been seen crying after hearing it.
It is fully qualified to power a large transistor class A amp if needed.
I just procured a NOS one from the auction site. I'm ready to cry!
Do you have the manufacturers data sheet? Or a link?
Thanks

Is this the one with ski lift motor powering capabilities and applications? 😀

Attached a datasheet for the NL-606.

Found it.
I knew I had seen these before. The 3B22 is the full wave version of the 866A class of rectifiers.

Not exactly. 3B22 is filled with xenon instead of mecury vapour. Someone here might say that this will yield a more noble, transparent sound instead of the heavy metalish 866A 🙄🙄🙄.https://frank.pocnet.net/sheets/201/3/3B22.pdf

IF you let me as well..
There are all kinds of timbre signatures you can get from a rectifier.
Although MVs have their distinctive sound of their own, they differ from model to model and brand.
In the end it's up to the listener's preferences.
Well, it has been stated here in DIYAudio multiple times that an amplifier is badly designed if it lets you »hear« the »sound« of any PSU component - unless it's goal is to do so, e. g. in a guitar amp.

An amplifier that allows you to hear the sound of different power transformers, rectifiers, filter capacitors, etc.

Well, so far myself (and I believe analog_sa) have had experiences with lots of commercial brand amplifiers, old and new, some of them even having cults for engineering design.
All of these amplifiers (tube or solid state) were prone to audible changes within the rectifier, power transformers and filter capacitors.
From this POV, I'm confused about "bad and proper" design.

I guess Amperex used different mercury than RCA. 🙄
