Old site - adverts discrete and in scale with site.
New site - adverts in random locations including mid scroll that are the size of the screen height.
Previously the adverts were acceptable now they’re downright invasive and annoying.
it may be the norm in the US for aggressive adverts every 5 minutes but in other countries it’s not. I deliberately make a mental note of aggressive advertising and don’t buy the brand. Much in the same way I avoid Samsung due to selling badly tested products.

How much do we have to pay for an add-free Forum? Perhaps a small yearly payment is an option go get rid of this annoying mess?

Donating member can disable ads. Non-donating members can use an ad blocking plugin or DNS server such as AdGuard DNS.

We have reviewed your situation @NickKUK and it appears your are viewing the forum on perhaps a mobile device, tipped sideways, which for whatever reason is pulling in the correct size ad for mobile (300x250) but it looks big due to the particular viewport you have. For us to do more testing, can you please let us know exactly the viewport size or make and model of your mobile device so we can see how it looks and feels in real-world use.
We have positioned the ads so they don't pop up in your face straight away, only to appear after you have read the first post and are scrolling down the page. The forum needs ads to support its operations - you can remove them for a small contribution. We will definitely look into your particular screen size and arrangement to make sure the best ad size is shown. Right now it looks like your particular size/orientation falls in between the desktop and mobile ad sizes.

About $25 per year gets you zero ads. It is a bargain. How much do we have to pay for an add-free Forum? Perhaps a small yearly payment is an option go get rid of this annoying mess?

Thanks Nick.
My Googling tells me an iPhone 7 has a viewport of 375 x 667. This should display the most popular standard "mobile" ad size of 300 wide x 250 high pretty well. 75px / 2 on either side. When you tip your phone sideways it won't fill the screen as well, however that 250px high ad is the standard mobile ad height.
On desktop the banner ad standard sizes are 768x90 (leaderboard) and 976x90 (wide leaderboard). Neither of those will show properly on your phone when tipped sideways.
So the right ad is being shown for your limited width of 667 pixels, as far as I can tell. You're using a mobile device and being shown the right ad for the width of your device.
The diy Hifi supply banner isn't an ad supplied by an ad network, that's just a div background that's auto-resizing to any dimensions.
As GV mentioned, the site needs revenue to pay for its operations. It's just $25 a year to get donor member benefits for 12 months and be able to switch off the ads so we can continue to offer you and everyone else all this content, on a reliable, well maintained software and server stack, without any paywalls, for free.
