Can you guys as experts tell me what i can get from 10 liters if i use every possible trick to make the bass stronger?
As allready told, the sound quality should not be too bad but I have no high end whishes on that side.
I heard alot about getting Plywood to a special thickness where it resonates with special frequencies; Use BR designs or Passive Radiators.
Can you tell me what you would do to get the maximum possible out of 10 liters without spending tooo much (200€ max for drivers, amp the the rest of the sound stuff). When I want a boring low end i can buy the Boombox from logitech or whatever..
I would like to have something like 50 or 60hz on the low end :/
The FAST design got me interested by the way 🙂

Can I get a better bass by taking a woofer, not using full range speakers?
Not without the same issues. Hoffman's law does not care if we call it a bass driver or a full-range.

Yea i am well aware of that, but should be a woofer better to use the room for bass than a fullrange driver?
Do you have a concept to get bass response down to 50/60hz with 10l?
When i take a look at the logitech ue Boombox it has a response from 50hz upwards i think (lets not talk about the sound xD). And i guess it uses far less than 10l of room for that.
If you would want to create a 10l Boombox for houseparties etc. what would you do?
Thanks for response

If you can live with ~84 dB.
logitech z213 it has a response from 50hz upwards
By the time you add everything together about 7 litre, spec says 65 Hz (you have to wonder how believable that is), and it is designed tobe listened to near-field. It is not anywhere near what you are asking about.

And at least somewhat limited volume levels -- not as limited as the logitech thou.
dave
I guess i can live with that limit, as long as i can get the midbass a little higher, i think i would like to have around 95db loudness as deep as possible, maybe 100db. Sure hoffmans law limits this , but it would be great to be able to decide in each situation if i focus on efficiency or bass.
Is it possible to switch between fullrange speakers and FAST with an optional woofer which can seperately be switched on or off?
(So you would have efficient Fullrange Speakers going down to 90hz or sth and a less efficient sub which can care about the low end if I have unlimited power or the Battery only needs to run 3hrs)
Or do you have a better idea?
Edit: i looked up the freq response of the boombox, here it is:
Looks like it starts around 75-80hz

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

i think you are over complicating it^^
with a 10 liter box you can go low, 60Hz is possible but it depends what u want : deepest bass, or punchiest bass ? If you want a boomy puchy bass you don't need to go low, 80Hz is enough, you just need a peak a this frequency (bass reflex box tuned a bit higher than the "optimal" flat curve)
You need a good x-max 5" full range, or a woofer+tweeter
And very important, don't forget baffle step compensation for a good bass/treble balance. You need to put it between the source and the amp. (only resistors and capacitors needed - better than between the amp and the speaker where you'll need expensive coils)

So, can you recommend drivers? I am rly new to this..
I would be pretty happy if you had a concept :/

Alpair 10p fits that bill.

I checked the Alpair and unfortunately it's not optimal for a 10 liter enclosure.
I found the Fountek FR135EX that seems very good for his purpose :
https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-5-fullrange/fountek-fr135ex-5-full-range/
simulated frequency response, 10L cabinet tuned at 55hz :
you can tune to 60-70hz for more boomy (but less deep) bass :

Hm, so i wont get to 90dB (1W/1m), when i want bass. Sad :/
But i guess its okay 🙂
With only one driver i will possibly go back to the starting design (+ vented), nothing too hard to realize with less stuff to get in.
I would like to tune it so somewhere around 65hz I guess, can you guys provide Design tipps?
Which Amp goes best with this driver?
Any special opportunity to get more out of it? (resonating wood thickness, any not very famous special tipps or tricks)
Any issues with my plan?
I would try to achieve a (extended) size of 25x25x20 (length/height/width --> 12.5l --> ~10l if I put in all the stuff), having a transport width of around 15cm 🙂
Soo.. I would buy this amp:2 CHANNELS TPA3116 amplifier assembled board 50W+50W | eBay
And use it together with the recommended driver...
What about making the box aperiodic and how do I tune it on the right frequency? :/
