FS: Iconic speakers

SOLD: Iconic speakers

Now that I have your attention ...

A piece of me died inside today listing these but I am recently an open baffle "convert" and I don't have the room to properly store these. It would be a shame to store either of these speakers anyway!

There is no point typing everything twice and taking up server space with pictures so I will link my FB ads.

1. Snell Type-E/II's in walnut. Sequential SN's, ALL original (disabled rear ambience tweeter) and DIY stands.

2. HIGHLY-modified Klipschorns. Crites cast woofers, Eliptrac tweeter w/B&C DE10s, ALK CSW crossovers, Rosewood veneer

Due to size and weight, I will not ship. Please contact me if you want to audition them.

SOLD

Snell Type-E/II's

RARE FIND HERE!

Sequential serial numbers, walnut finish, 2nd owner, NOT re-foamed, Audiophile owned!

These are the Snells that made Snell famous and Audio Note still sells this design today for upwards of $20K (AN-E)! That tells you how good they sound. These are VERY clean for their age with minor bumps in the veneer but nothing noticeable from 1' away. The rear ambience tweeter wire has been cut to disable it. Simple splice to turn it back on (I can do that for you if you desire). Custom stands included that have a bag of coal tar in the base for added weight. Beware of re-foamed Snell speakers as Peter Snell used specific foam and the kits on eBay are NOT the same and change the sound drastically! These surrounds are in great shape so I did not touch them. Crossover is all original also as I was told to leave these alone by the owner of Audio Note. He said being sequential SN's that these were likely hand matched in an anechoic chamber by Peter Snell himself. Likewise, there is crazing on the coating on the tweeters but it does not affect sound and I also left it alone based on Audio Note's guidance.

Klipschorns

These started life as a pair of ugly birch Decorator Series ... They are NOT sequential serial numbers but dates are 1971 and 1974. They have been modified with the following:

- Crites cast basket replacement woofers
- Eliptrac tweeter horn w/B&C DE10 drivers
- Bedliner applied to back of midrange horns
- ALK Engineering CSW crossovers
- Rear and plywood surrounds painted black
- Rosewood composite veneer w/Danish oil finish

It pains me to sell these as these have been my reference speakers for years! I recently started dabbling in open baffle and I do not have the room to store these so they must find a new home. They are 104dB/1W/m efficient and I was powering them with a modest 1W Class-A tube amplifier and could still turn it up loud enough to make you uncomfortable! 🙂 They truly are an amazing sounding speaker you have to hear to believe. These have dropped MANY a jaw!
