This is a newly completed project for a DIR9001 to be used in CS8412 socket digital receiver DACs. The board is proven working in my D1 Ver2 clone DAC and will also be working in other DAC which accept 16 or 24 bit format as stated in DIR9001 data sheet. The only thing I want to highlight is the low 50ps jitter of DIR9001 compare to old receier 8414/8412 with >200ps jitter.
Price is US$5 with below content:
1. Two 14 pins strip.
2. 4 0.1uF smd chip cap
3. 2 10uF smd chip cap
4. 1 22uF smd chip cap
5. Some 2.5mm pins
6. One smd bead

Some tips for soldering this SMD converter board.
0. Use 3M tape to fix the pcb on the table, cover all other pads except the 9001 pins.
1. Flux the pad before soldering but do not use excessive flux.
2. Solder the DIR9001 first.
3. Then come the 26C32.
4. Next wash the flux of 9001 and 26C32 with alcohol. Check all the pins are properly soldered or no short solder. Of course you need a magnifier glass of 3 to 5 times.
5. Solder the top 3 smd parts.
6. Go to bottom and solder the regulator LT1117 (3 pins plus the heatsink.
7. Then solder all the other smd parts on the bottom.
8. Use a empty IC socket of 28 pins DIP, insert the two 14-pin strip on the socket. Then put the pcb on top and solder all the pins. THe IC socket help for alignment and positioning of the pins.
9. You can either solder the jumper pins or use a hard wire to short the jumper.
My experience tell me that excess flux residue on the DIR9001 will stop it from functioning. 26C32 is not that critical as the pins are further apart.
If you do it carefully, all the board will have a 100% success rate. Enjoy!
